Dr. Garrison Hutchison, author of several dozen books and a multitude of articles and short stories, currently makes his home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He enjoys speaking to groups of all ages about the process of writing and of his experiences as an author. (Other topics also available.) With an academic background in psychology, education, philosophy and communication, he brings a unique blend of skills to every presentation. His up beat, positive approach to living ensures a fresh, enjoyable experience whenever he appears. He sold his first piece to a national magazine when he was twelve and then went on to write for radio, television and the stage. Best known among his professional books are Trouble Proofing Kids, The One Rule Plan for Family Happiness, and Deep Mind Mastery: a path to happiness and indomitable self-esteem. His book, 36 Hours to live: The Diary of a Teenage Suicide, has been studied in hundreds of high schools and colleges around the world. The best known of his lighter work includes the series of Raymond Masters Mysteries, and Bonnie Brewster Romances. His books span the spectrum from parenting and family living to self-improvement and personal wellness; from biography and autobiography to social philosophy and the mastery of the deepest reaches of one's own mind. In-between, there have been Mysteries (penname, Garrison Flint), Ozark Folklore (Gary Hutchison), Children's Novels, (David Drake), and even Romances (Bonnie Brewster). [Many of his current books are available at www.familypress.com, and at Barnes&Noble.com and Borders.com] His alter ego, Grampa Gray, has written a witty or pointed poem each day for over forty years ("...whether it deserved to be written or not."). "Grampa" has published six books of humorous verse and homespun philosophy, especially prepared for the "past fifty" set. They have recently been combined into one volume - In Praise of the Commonplace. You will find that Gary is a warm, approachable, person, whose passion is to do something each and every day that improves the lot of his fellow man. Whether you need a serious offering, an inspirational program, or wholesome entertainment, Gary will tailor-make his presentation to fit your occasion. He enjoys responding to audience questions and will make that his entire program if you want. He provides one free program each week in and around the Fayetteville area.
