You publicize and sell tickets* to the event (keep them cheap, to pull in a crowd), and sell Gary's books at heavily discounted prices (about fifty different titles) earning a 35% commission on each sale (about $3.50). Add a snack bar with donated drinks and goodies (have several donataion fishbowls on the tables - people attending fund raisers expect to pay for things), a gift wrap table, and perhaps a "we'll-mail-it-for-you" station and you'll make a tidy profit with very little work. Experience suggests that for every guest you can expect to make a minimum of $10.00 ($1.50 for the ticket, $1.00 plus for snacks, $7.00 for two book purchases, plus the gift wrapping and mailing stations. * The ticket price is up to you. ** Arrange for a three table (minimum) display area (approximately 3 X 7 foot tables). Add one table for every 50 people expected beyond fifty. Better too big than too small. Easy and quick access to the books and purchasing station are absolutely essential to maximize sales. (EX: If you expect 250 people you'll need 7 tables - the basic three plus one for each set of fifty guests beyond the initial fifty - in this case four.) For groups of 300 or more, call for suggestions. |
