| One old author's take on Writing for Fun and Profit (Well, for Fun, at least!)
An entertaining program presented by Gary Hutchison |
|
Gary reads excepts from some of his books, relates humorous anecdotes, and reflects on his years as an author. He delights in responding to questions from the audience and will build the whole program around questions submitted to him ahead of time if you prefer. (Whether asked or not, he will set to rest the age old conundrum about which came first, the chicken or the egg.) Writing under several pennames, Gary has been captivating readers since he was a teenager. Actually, he sold his first piece to a national magazine when he was twelve, three years after finishing and self-publishing his first book, a 32 page work titled, How to set your mind so you can be a happy, healthy, helpful person for the rest of your life. His mission in life has never veered far from that original topic. Gary writes mysteries under the name Garrison Flint. His trademark detective, Raymond Masters, stars in a series of eleven books (an ever expanding number). David Drake is the name used when writing for children and teens. Then there is Grampa Gray for the over-fifty set, and even Bonnie Brewster in the romance department (Its hard to explain the beard when "she" appears at book-signings.) He writes professional, psychology, and parenting books using his name, G. F. Hutchison, Ph.D.. His books about the Little People of the Ozarks(R) come from the quill pen of Gary Hutchison (billed as the only known living confidant of those delightfully quaint, invisible, magical, little folks).
